Moi

Thanks to a little challenge from my pal Deirdre, I decided to attempt the self-portrait. I used my favourite lens: 50mm f1.7. The large aperture of this lens creates a narrow depth of field (the area in focus is quite small). The narrow depth of field allows for great effects, but also makes it quite difficult when trying to do self-portraits. Here's a couple of the better shots. I used different processing techniques for both.

Hey TJ!
Great job at getting yourself in the razon-thin depth of field of that lens. Last weekend I was using a lot of my 50 F/1.4 lens, and I'm used to a lot of shots being hit and miss due to the literally centimeters of depth of field. But I was amazingly surprised at how many shots were dead on! I got some really amazing shots that I hope to be posting soon, once things get a little less crazy ;-). Good job. I also updated my pricing info, if you are curious to check it out. And personally I love your self portraits but I prefer the colors and processing of some of your previous work better, and I find the lighting a little flat. But thats just an opinion. Talk to you soon and keep up the awesome stuff!

Hey Justin! Thanks for the feedback. Yes, the lighting isn't the greatest. All I had was a ceiling light. I did have a window close by, but I had to choose between using window light and a gray background, or no window light and the wooden background.
Thanks for your input on the processing. I need to know what people think about it. I'm still experimenting and seeing what I can do with it.
And I was actually just looking at your prices (I'm still trying to fine-tune mine). I like the idea of having packages without specific sizes.... I'll have to think about that.
I'm looking forward to your new posts!

I know absolutely nothing about taking pictures but your self portraits are beautifull. I especially love the second one.
